Backyard bird count

Mountains Restoration Trust invites individuals, families and groups of all ages to join the 10th anniversary Great Backyard Bird Count at 8 a.m. Sat., Feb. 17 at 23075 Mulholland Hwy., Calabasas.

The event allows beginner to advanced birdwatchers an experience with bird identification.

The event is sponsored by Cornell University and the National Audubon Society,

The bird count provides information about bird population trends for conservation efforts.

Andy Blake, from the bird specialty store Wild Birds Unlimited in Woodland Hills, will lead the bird count. Participants are asked to bring binoculars.
