Grads may apply to Fellows Program

College graduates are invited to apply for the 2007-08 Capital Fellows Program.

"This 11-month program gives college graduates the opportunity of a lifetime to become fulltime policy assistants," said Assemblymember Julia Brownley (D-Woodland Hills).

"Assembly fellows, for example, work on fiscal and policy issues in an assembly member's capital or committee office and participate in a weekly academic seminar with assembly members, senior staff, journalists, lobbyists and state government officials."

These fellowships are also available for work with members of the state Senate, legislative committees, senior executive branch staff, court officials and other top ranking government officials.

Fellows earn 12 graduate credits from Cal State Sacramento and are paid a monthly stipend of $1,972, plus health, dental and vision benefits.

A total of 18 Assembly fellows, 18 Senate fellows, 18 executive fellows and 10 judicial administration fellows will be selected. Interviews will be in May in Los Angeles.

Eligible applicants must have earned an undergraduate degree by September 2007. Individuals with advanced degrees or midcareer professionals are also encouraged to apply.

Applications must be postmarked by Wed., Feb. 28 and are available online at www.csus.edu/calst/programs/.
