National Geographic to host photo contest

National Geographic Adventure magazine will host a "Wild Angle Photo Contest" as part of the Los Angeles Times Travel and Adventure Show Sat. and Sun., Feb. 10 and 11 at the Long Beach Convention Center.

Amateur photographers are invited to submit their best adventure photos to be judged by a panel of awardwinning Adventure photographers.

The grand prize will be a five-day/four-night stay for two at Hotel Las Brisas Huatulco and roundtrip airfare to Mexico. Ten runners-up will receive a one-year subscription to National Geographic Adventure magazine.

The photos will be judged by a panel at each of the individual Adventures in Travel Expo shows- New York City, Chicago, Long Beach and Washington, D.C.

The winning photos will advance to the finals, with the winner being announced at the Washington, D.C. Adventures in Travel Expo show on March 4.

According to Holly Saunders, marketing director at National Geographic Adventure, "We encourage anyone who has a favorite vacation photo that illustrates a destination from a physical, cultural or even a spiritual perspective to enter it. The winning photos are selected based on subject matter, composition, photographic skill, originality and creativity."
