Father/daughter Valentine's dance planned

The ninth annual Woodland Hills Father-Daughter Valentine Dance will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sat., Feb. 3 at the St. Mel Parish Center, 20870 Ventura Blvd., Woodland Hills.

The parentsponsored community-wide event is attended by about 500 fathers and their daughters.

"The mission of the dance is to strengthen the blessings of healthy fatherdaughter relationships by creating a special occasion for fathers and daughters to spend time alone together," said Cathy Nordlund, event founder.

"For the dads, the dance is about deliberately role-modeling a high standard of dating to their daughters. Giving them undivided attention . . . for the daughters, the dance is about feeling special and beautiful," said Nordlund.

Tickets are $17.50 per person and may be purchased at St. Mel's or at Franklin's Hardware, U.S. Half Hour Photo and Wisteria Lane Florist, all in Woodland Hills.
