Local Chambers of Commerce become active as the New Year gets underway

+The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce will host a pair of noteworthy events this month.

A business networking mixer is scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thurs., Jan. 18 at the UNA- Westfield Topanga, second level, 6600 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Canoga Park. Admission is free.

At 11:30 a.m. on Thurs., Jan. 25, the 2007 Calabasas Chamber installation and awards luncheon will take place at the Calabasas Country Club, 4515 Park Entrada.

A new board of directors will be introduced and the Chairman's and Bill Van Gieson Memorial awards will be presented. Last year's chairman, Stephanie Warren, and the outgoing board members will be honored for their dedication and service. Calabasas Mayor Dennis Washburn will serve as installation officer for the ceremony.

Retired marketing director Arlene Bernholtz will be recognized for her 13 years of service to the Chamber.

Returning to the board of directors are chairman of the board, Stephanie Warren of Ewing & Associates Sotheby's International Realty; first vice chair, Douglas Ridley of Drescher, Quisenberry, Ridley & Shiffaman, Farm Insurance; vice chair finance, Susan Orgen of Multi Data Services; vice chair membership, Barbara McDaniel of Coldwell Banker-Calabasas; vice chair governmental affairs, Martin Seda of AXA Advisors LLC; immediate past chair, Toni Yamin of Stylish Dressing by Toni; Jeff Blum of A.G. Edwards; Joe Donato of Acura 101 West; Brenda Johnson of Calabasas Pharmacy; Jerry Magel of Pep Boys; Matthew Pime of AXA Advisors LLC; and Marie White of Money Mailer.

New to the board are Adam Adair of Eden Surgical and Wellness Center, Kimberly Bordonaro of Pacific Coast Lending, and Jeff Morton of Mulholland Mortgage Services LP.

The cost to attend the installation is $30 for members and $35 for nonmembers.

+The Malibu Chamber of Commerce will install new officers on Sat., Jan. 20 at the Malibu West Beach Club on Pacific Coast Highway.

The event will include a luau dinner with Hawaiian music and dancing. Outgoing president Pam Brady will be honored

The new Chamber leadership will include Ed Gillespie, who will be the 2007 president of the board.

The 18-member board also will include Corinne Anderson of Calamigos Ranch, Susan Booker of Charter Communications and Capt.Tom Martin of the Malibu/ Lost Hills Sheriff's Station.

+The Agoura/Oak Park/ Conejo Valley Chamber will host a reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the grand opening of Volvo of Calabasas, 24221 Calabasas Road, on Thurs., Jan. 25.

The event will recognize Steve Lapin of Thousand Oaks Infinity, who has taken over as new owner at Calabasas Volvo.
