New group to advise school district

Oak Park residents are invited to attend a meeting regarding the school district’s future at 7:30 p.m. on Thurs., Jan. 11 at the Mae Boyar Park after-school club building, 130 Kanan Road.

Meeting organizers want to form a grassroots group to help advise school district officials understand why the H6 school facilities bond measure did not pass in last November’s election and to determine the district’s future.

“The school district needs to know which direction(s) the community wants the district to head so they can align the goals of the district with those of the community,” said Jay Kapitz, a meeting organizer and member of the Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council.

The group will be independent of the Oak Park Unified School District and will consist of parents with students in Oak Park schools, as well as those residents who do not have school-age children.

For more information contact Jay Kapitz at (818) 8891039 or j_kapitz@yahoo.com.
