Conejo Players come alive with ‘The Sound of Music’

Conejo Players Theatre will present “The Sound of Music” Thursdays through Sundays, Jan. 19 to Feb. 17. Thursday through Saturday shows will be at 8 p.m., with 2 matinees on Sunday.

“The Sound of Music,” by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, opened on Broadway in November 1959.

Based on Maria von Trapp’s autobiography, the musical tells

the story of Maria Rainer, governess to the seven children of Capt. Georg von Trapp in Austria in 1938. Beginning as a love story between Georg and Maria, the story continues when they return from their honeymoon to find that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis and the captain is ordered back to service.

Ticket prices are $14 for Thursday shows, $16 Fridays and Sundays, and $18 Saturday shows and opening night. For tickets, call (805) 495-3715.
