Local Masons debut new leaders

BROTHERHOOD OF THE MEN— When Conejo Valley Masonic Lodge No. 807 installs new officers on Jan. 6, David Honick of Westlake Village, center row left, will become the chaplain and Jerry Stein, center row second from right, will be the marshal. Peter Jamieson of Thousand Oaks, front row middle, is to be the new Masonic master.
Peter Jamieson of Thousand Oaks has been elected and installed as master of Conejo Valley Masonic Lodge No. 807.

Jamieson will be installed on Jan. 6 by David Doan, past grand master of Free and Accepted Masons of the state of California. This 46th annual installation will be conducted at the Conejo Valley Masonic Lodge, 2786 Crescent Way in Thousand Oaks.

As master, Jamieson becomes presiding officer and head of the lodge. The title of master instead of president reflects the Masonic tradition of using ceremonies and titles from the stonemasons of the Middle Ages.

When the great cathedrals of Europe were being built, the Mason in charge of a building site was referred to as a “master of the work.”

Other officers to be installed during the ceremony are David

Lieberthal, Micheal Wurtzel, Thomas Waite, Raul Cifuentes, Frank Soltero and David Del Dosso of Thousand Oaks, and Rees Padfield of Moorpark, Jerry Stein of Oak Park, Jerry Michaelson and David Honick of Westlake Village, and Marc Newman of Camarillo.

Freemasonry is the oldest, largest and most widely recognized fraternal organization in the world. Today, there are more than 2 million Freemasons in North America alone.

In Conejo Valley’s lodge, among the current line of officers are a teacher, a lawyer, a plumber, a printer, a salesman, a chiropractor, an insurance agent, an engineer and a retired professor.
