Wealthy pay most of country's taxes
In last week's Acorn, Patricia Ahmad bestows a "Scrooge" award on a letter writer. In the spirit of the season of giving, I honor Ms. Ahmad with her own award- for economic illiteracy. She intimates that "the government" protects only the rights of the rich and that (get ready) "the rich" and corporations pay only "7 percent of the taxes.

Her facts about taxes aren't correct
I find it reprehensible that Patricia Ahmad resorts to namecalling a member of our community in her desire to score a point. I do not know Edwin Locke, but I believe it was mean spirited for Ahmad to take it upon herself to select him "Scrooge of the Year.

No water, no new development
Your editorial last week was filled with many helpful ideas to conserve water in Southern California except for one glaring omission. I cannot understand why you would not demand that our leaders do not immediately put a moratorium on the construction of new homes and commercial properties.

History lesson
Dan Crissafulli's letter of Dec. 6 states that "Oak Park was not yet a reality" when he moved to Agoura 27 years ago (1980). In fact, Oak Park's master plan was approved by Ventura County before 1965 and the first homes were built in 1966.

Remodeler, bewar
Sometime in April I got a call from a construction company inquiring if I planned any construction or repair work soon.
