Hats off to Agoura Hills City Manager Greg Rameriz, his staff and the City Council for establishing a business task force committee. It's about time the business community is given an opportunity to partner with the city in a positive way. More ... Thank you for your editorial concerning the city of Agoura Hills and the business community. I do have one comment about what I believe to be a factual inaccuracy. I served on the Chamber board of directors several years ago when Alex Soteras was president. More ... Congratulations to our new mayor, John Edelston, and to the mayor of 2007, Dan Kuperberg, on their overwhelming reelection last month. Agoura Hills remains in very steady and capable hands. I would also like to comment on the Acorn's editorial last week on the city's "refusal" to fund our Chamber of Commerce. More ... In response to the letters submitted by Mike Stern and Bruce Sallen, may I say it is truly a shame that times have changed in the way our children must be educated and forewarned about contact with strangers. Mr. Sallen, you quoted what you did freely as a child so many years ago, but that has no bearing on the condition of the world today. More ... Heschel West was "finally approved," after almost 10 years. You would think that with a vociferous opposition from the local residents of Old Agoura and the city of Agoura Hills that they may have had something to do with that long time frame, but you would be mistaken. More ... In response to "No handouts for the poor," The Acorn, Dec. 6. Congratulations, Mr. Edwin Locke of Westlake Village, you have just been selected "Scrooge of the Year." It was not a difficult decision considering you must be an adult who obviously has prospered and had plenty of time to understand and learn about the disparities of life. More ... I want to clear up some misinformation about the beautiful new landscaping along Mulholland Highway. The entire new stretch of landscaping will soon be watered with 100 percent reclaimed water from the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District as planned. More ... On Sunday several members of Oak Park High's Key Club braved the cold wind outside of Pavillions and CVS to solicit contributions for the troops. Shoppers responded generously with bags full of snacks, toiletries, magazines, and cash to help defray the cost of shipping the care packages to our troops in Iraq. More ... All the kitties, dogs, bunnies and other critters at the Agoura Animal Shelter are eagerly watching the activity around their Christmas tree. It's decorated with wish cards for you and I to take off the tree, and then buy any of the many items needed. More ... Young children and pets are in danger. More than a few small dogs and cats have been snatched right out of their own backyards (by coyotes) in front of the owner. They (coyotes) hop walls and fences and will even dig under. Some areas have a den of coyotes. More ... Robin Kahrs thinks I should volunteer at the shelter instead of complaining about L.A. County Animal Control's lousy phone service during emergencies. Sure, I'll do so the day that L.A. County makes a no-kill commitment for all of its shelters and promises not to kill healthy, savable animals simply because they have not found the animal a home. More ... In response to Robin Kahrs' letter addressing the issues June Slayton raised about the Los Angeles County Animals Control (LACAC) during the wildfires: I expected LACAC Director of Communications Michelle Roache's typical spin that the agency would "investigate" the concerns.
