Veterans visit Brookside Elementary
     FOR LOVE OF COUNTRY- Veterans of several wars pose with members of Brookside Elementary School Student Council and Principal Debra Burgher. At schoolwide spirit assembly held recently, fourth graders sang the official songs of each branch of the military in honor of the veterans present. The men stood for recognition when they heard the song representing their branch of service. The Brookside assembly was one of five similar events held at Oak Park schools in honor of Veterans Day.

Local schools make Honor Roll
Student achievement, reduced academic gap noted
      A statewide business and education coalition named several local schools to its 2007 Honor Roll earlier this month. The California Business for Education Excellence Foundation and Just for the KidsCalifornia recognized 569 public schools across the state for high student achievement and reducing the academic gap for all students.

Preschool celebrates anniversary
      Born Learners School of Agoura Hills recently celebrated its 28th anniversary. The preschool and kindergarten at 28348 Agoura Road, has served the community since 1979. Owner/director Bea Elliott began the school with Linda Huss. Both women were speech and language therapists in the public schools.
