Did I read the front page story in last week's Acorn correctly? Two boys accuse their friendly neighborhood FBI agent of attempted kidnapping for offering to help them pump up their flat bike tire? More ... I read with sadness the story of the kids scared of a "stranger" who offered to help them. A "stranger" who turned out to be a local parent and a FBI agent, no less. More ... I would like to thank Malibu Rescue Team and the Calabasas Sheriff's Department for being so kind and helpful to my father and I last Saturday night. I would also like to give my special thanks to the three pilots who came to my rescue that cold night in the Simi hills. Thanks to you, my dad and I are home safe and sound and can truly have a happy holiday. More ... I was appalled by the article on affordable living ( The Acorn , Nov. 21). First, money is to be extorted from the taxpayers and developers in order to provide housing for the poor because they "need" it. The government's proper function is to protect rights, not to fulfill everyone's needs. More ... A previous letter writer to The Acorn asked, "Would the residents of Old Agoura feel the same way about Heschel if it was a Christian school?" Although half the families in Old Agoura are Jewish, I would turn that question around and ask if Heschel was a fundamentalist Christian school, would the taxpayers of Agoura be expected to pay for it? More ... Warning! The residents of Old Agoura are in grave danger. They live in a "wildfire" zone. Their homes are in danger. Their kids are in danger (is Social Services aware of this?). Their penned-up animals are in more danger (are the ASPCA and PETA aware of this?). More ... At least once a month I pick up trash along Kanan Road from Cornell to Agoura Road. I usually manage to bend over at least 125 times picking up bottles, cans, plastic bags and other assorted items dumped by people who don't care about the ugly sight. More ... I would like to take this opportunity to applaud the manner in which the trick-or-treaters and their parents conducted themselves on Hempstead Drive on Halloween eve. Hempstead Drive, better known as "Haunted Hempstead" on Halloween, has always attracted a large number of ghosts and goblins. More ... Shame on the city leaders of Calabasas. This is a time where scientists and the media provide grave reports about environmental issues affecting every aspect of our lives. The threat of drought and water shortages is very real. More ... Our wonderful city of Calabasas traffic department, headed by Mr. Robert Yalda, has done it again. The traffic lights along Calabasas Road from Park Granada to Park Calabasas have been reprogrammed sometime within the last few months and as usual it makes no sense at all. More ...
