Four Seasons marks anniversary
      The Four Seasons Hotel marked its first anniversary in Westlake Village with a Nov. 30 luncheon and media briefing that included words of cautious optimism about the future of the city's newest hospitality gem from Dole Chairman and CEO David Murdock.

Site chosen for Oak Park water tank
      A new, larger water tank that will serve Oak Park will be built alongside a trail in the hills above the Oak Canyon Park archery range. A unanimous decision last week by the Triunfo Sanitation District, which oversees Oak Park water and sanitation service, caps years of discussion about where the facility should be placed.

Newcomer Ned Davis joins Westlake City Council; Klessig named mayor
      Westlake Village has a new mayor. Philippa Klessig was appointed to the position by fellow City Council members during the council's reorganization meeting Nov. 28. Bob Slavin was chosen mayor pro-tem. "I plan to continue to listen to you and respect your varying viewpoints," Klessig told the other members.

      The California Highway Patrol, West Valley Area, is collecting toys as part of its annual CHiPs for Kids Toy Drive. A booth has been set up at Northridge Fashion Center, 9301 Tampa Ave. Donations will be accepted between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. through Mon., Dec. 24.

Kwanzaa event celebrates African traditions
      About 150 people of diverse backgrounds gathered at California Lutheran University last Saturday for an early celebration of Kwanzaa. The sevenday event is observed annually from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1 by African American families who want to honor ancestral traditions, unity, family, community and culture.

      The mock trial team of Louisville High School in Woodland Hills won its sixth Los Angeles County Mock Trial Championship on Nov. 29. It's the second time in four years the all-girls team has won the title. They now move on to the California State competition in March.

'Air Force One' authors to sign books in Westlake
      Authors Joel and Michael Cohen, a father-and-son team from Westlake Village, will be on hand later this month to sign their book documenting Air Force One's final journey to Simi Valley's Reagan Library. During its 28 years of service, Air Force One 27000 carried more presidents to more countries on more missions than any other aircraft in history.

Westlake Village ironman athlete pushes himself to the limit
      Marc Aten does not complain, wallow in misery or hide in a shell. Aten fights on. The 33yearold recently completed his second Hawaii Ironman Triathlon- a physically grueling competition that consists of a 2.4mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run- and he did it without the use of his feet.

     LUNCH LADIES- Members of Brownie Troop 433, third graders from Yerba Buena Elementary School in Agoura Hills, assemble 45 sack lunches for distribution to the homeless through the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Westlake Village. The church provides dinner for the homeless every Wednesday night and sends each person home with a lunch for the following day. New Cornell Winery exhibits art
