Teachers' union supports Finders for school board

The Las Virgenes Educators Association urges the re-election of Terilyn Finders to the Las Virgenes Unified School District. Ms. Finders has proven herself to be an intelligent and articulate member of the Las Virgenes school board. Although we have not always agreed with her on every issue, she has always shown her willingness to listen to our concerns in a collaborative manner. In addition, she has become a force at the state level. She was a major player in the passage of Assembly Bill 2513, the state's Autism Information and Training Center bill.

For these reasons and many more, we urge the voters of Las Virgenes to vote to re-elect Terilyn Finders. Sandi Pope, co-president Paul Markowitz, co-president Las Virgenes Educators Assoc.

As school board members, we know the qualities that candidates must bring to the board in order to be highly effective. Terilyn Finders has those qualities.

Terilyn's intelligence, common sense, love of children, communication skills, ability to ask insightful questions, and vision of what the future holds for our children have all contributed to her effectiveness on the school board.

Although we do not agree on all issues that come before us, we do agree that Terilyn Finders should be re-elected. A fervent advocate for all students, she works hard every day and many nights reading reports of student test data, formulating strategy for increasing school funding, meeting with parents, lobbying Sacramento and visiting school sites to observe our educators and students in action.

LVUSD has benefited from Terilyn's skills, dedication and experience. Please join us in voting for Terilyn Finders. Cindy Iser, Pat Schulz LVUSD Board of Education

As a school board member I have had the pleasure of working with Terilyn Finders for six years. During that time she has led LVUSD into many areas of scholastic and supportive enhancements and is very effective in behindthescene leadership.

Terilyn is a creative person able to think outside the box, yet understands the nuances of leadership necessary to make the right things happen. Her decisions are based on "what's best for our students?"

She works very well with school and district staff, parents, students and community leaders. Terilyn really listens to others and considers all views before reaching a decision. A positive person who leads through encouragement, she has shown the strength needed to take tough stands and to reconcile opposing views. Gordon Whitehead LVUSD Board of Education

We want to encourage voters to re-elect Terilyn Finders to the Las Virgenes Board of Education on Nov. 6. Terilyn has proven her abilities during eight outstanding years of service on the board.

She is an experienced leader and knowledgeable in all facets of public education, from the state to the local level. Now, more than ever, our kids need Terilyn. Joan and Jeff Beal Agoura

Terilyn Finders for school board. She has the experience, the intelligence and the heart to continue working on behalf of our children.

Likewise, I also support Jill Gaines. Her background in education and business highly qualify her for this position. I'm confident that she will be a tremendous asset to the board. Ziona Friedlander Agoura Hills

Terilyn Finders has worked tirelessly for children and the district over these years. I have had the pleasure of working with her during her term and find her dynamic, dedicated, bright and caring and she certainly deserves reelection. Jill Gaines, as a newcomer, has a most impressive resume and her past work for the district in the many areas that need attention positions her well for the board.

I will also state that while I detest taxes and vote against them regularly in the state and county, the fact that the extension of Measure E is again "sunseted" is the only reason I am supporting it. I believe that when politicians get their hands on a tax it never goes away but if it has a sunset provision I am a bit more comfortable.

These monies are needed to support our schools and our cities have to do more in this critical area as the reason so many parents elect to move to this area is the quality of the education system. The quality of life issue begins with schools. Denis Weber Agoura Hills City Council

It takes years to build the stamina, knowledge and contacts necessary to be an effective advocate for children in Sacramento.

Terilyn Finders works tirelessly with the legislature, and is delivering excellent results for our district, our kids and teachers.

Let's not mess with success. Keep Terilyn Finders on the Las Virgenes Board of Education. Laurie and Darrow Milgrim Agoura Hills
