Car break-ins, burglaries plague communities

      While Westlake Village and surrounding communities are mostly free from the serious forms of crime, the area continues to be plagued with burglaries and car break-ins. Sheriff's deputies say the vehicle-related crimes could be cut in half if residents would stop leaving personal articles and items of value in plain view.
