Windjammer Girl Scout troop seeks new sailors

ANCHORS AWAY- Girl  Scouts  from  Senior  Troop  No.  2003 Windjammer will share their sea stories at an informational  meeting in Agoura Hills. The troop has a 22-foot sailboat which the girls learn how to skipper, navigate and maintain. Girl Scout Senior Troop No. 2003 Windjammer will host an informational recruitment meeting to learn about Senior Scouts and troop activities at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at the house of troop leader, Alyssa Selogie, at 5521 Rainbow Crest Drive, Agoura Hills.

This meeting is open to all girls between the ages of 13 and 18 who live in Ventura or Los Angeles counties and their parents.

Windjammer, founded in August 2000, is jointly registered in Girl Scouts of America and in Sea Scouts, a sub-division of Boy Scouts of America.

The girls can participate in a variety of activities such as leadership opportunities, rank advancement, Girl Scout encampments, scouting competitions, weekend sailing cruises, camping, boating, community service and much more.

The troop has a 22foot sailboat, which the girls learn how to skipper, navigate, and maintain.

In the past Windjammer has won first place at numerous local scouting competitions and also earned a position in the Girl Scout calendar in 2001 for being one of San Fernando Valley Girl Scout Council's top fundraisers.
