Hotel sponsors television reading program
      Country Inns and Suites By Carlson announced a commitment to literacy by becoming a presenting sponsor of the Emmy Awardwinning "Reading Rainbow" program on PBS television. The two-year, $500,000 sponsorship will assist the program in fulfilling its commitment to help children adopt positive reading skills.

Chamber to meet at Terri's Cafe
      The Agoura/Oak Park/Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce will host a breakfast meeting at 8 a.m. Tues., Oct. 9 at Terri's Cafe, 30135 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills. The program is "How to get a small business loan." Guest speakers are Chamber members Jim Salin and Cheryl Murphy, vice presidents of Pacific Western Bank and experts on SBA loans.

      Organizers of the Calabasas Pumpkin Festival are auctioning off sponsorships. The festival takes place Oct. 20 and 21 at Juan Bautista de Anza Park, Minimum bids are as follows: Welcome station: $5,000; main stage: $5,000; beer garden: $2,500; event stage: $2,500; country store: $2,000; inflatables: $1,500.
