Mishpacha, the family learning program at Congregation Or Ami, begins Sun., Sept. 16. Mishpacha Aleph meets from 9 to 11:15 a.m. and Mishpacha Bet meets from 11:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

The program is for parents and their children to explore Judaism together. Families will gather twice at month at the synagogue for interactive learning. At each session, the adults spend time with the rabbi, exploring the same texts as the children. Later, everyone comes together to learn further through games, cooking, crafts, songs and plays.

In November the two sessions will assemble duffel bags stuffed with toys, blankets and games for children placed in foster care.

Several times a year, Mishpacha participants go out into the community to help others. The kosher food pantry SOVA, the Jewish Home for the Aging and a cleanup day at Malibu Creek State Park were among the previous outings.

The Reform synagogue is at 26115 Mureau Road, Ste. B, in Calabasas. For more information, call Rabbi Paul Kipnes at (818) 880-4880 or e-mail rabbipaul@ orami.org.
