Fond memories of Vance Moran

I was saddened to learn that Vance Moran passed away. We were indeed indebted to him and Art Whizin for all they did for the community, especially the public schools.

I recall when Brookside Elementary School in 1982 (I was the PTA president that year) was having a spaghetti dinner and I called Art and asked him about our purchasing items for the dinner. Not only did he and Vance prepared the sauce pasta, dinner rolls and desserts, but the donated all the items to our school. I was not expecting this generosity on their part, but at the same time, not totally surprised.

When we moved to Oak Park in 1976, the only place to shop for groceries in the area was Whizin's and they had quite a choice of items. As the grocery then became a restaurant, we then had to go to either Vons in Westlake Village or Ralphs on Valley Circle before Kanan Road was built up commercially.

When Vance told us that he and his wife were moving to Louisiana, we were sorry to see long time friends were leaving Agoura.

Bob (Kahn) and Vance can reminisce in heaven about the productive growth of Agoura and Oak Park.

Thank you, Vance and Pat, for being a valued part of our lives. Eileen Kahn Oak Park
