Fond memories of Vance Moran
      I was saddened to learn that Vance Moran passed away. We were indeed indebted to him and Art Whizin for all they did for the community, especially the public schools.

No free pass for developers
      The final public workshop for Calabasas General Plan update was held on Aug. 16. The goal of the well-attended workshop was to get input from the community on a draft land use map. The city's consultant began by saying that the current General Plan is a good one, requiring few changes, yet parts of their presentation suggested otherwise.

Elected official wasn't very responsive
      I have lived in the Conejo Valley for many years and have usually found the elected individuals in this community to be very responsive to inquiries and requests. Unfortunately, Linda Parks, one of our supervisors, is a glaring exception to this rule.

Balloon release isn't harmful
      On Sat., Aug. 25, Balloon Designs by Jeanne had the privilege of releasing 700 helium filled white latex balloons to celebrate the unveiling of the new community fountain at the Janss Marketplace. A couple of people asked us about the effect of the balloons and helium on the environment such as the ozone and sea life.
