Searching for a second chance

      Right before her time was up, a fluffy 10pound pup received a second chance at life. Miss Ellie, a 2-year-old poodle-bichon mix, was set to be euthanized Aug. 13 before Oz Animal Rescue group stepped in to save her. Despite her narrow escape, Miss Ellie isn't in the clear just yet.

Oak Park kids put on a show to support animal shelter
      A backyard reader's theater presentation of "The Billy Goats Gruff Go Calypso" raised $125 to benefit the Ventura County Animal Shelter. The show was recently presented by local children in Oak Park. The money was raised through donations from the audience and the sale of popcorn and lemonade.
