Temple welcomes educator-leaders

Dan Medwin Congregation Or Ami welcomes two educatorleaders as coordinators of its Mishpacha Family Alternative Learning Program.

Sara Mason and Dan Medwin will share responsibilities in developing curriculum, supervising the temple's rabbinic and education intern staff and leading the family sessions.

Each person brings to the position experience in Jewish education, youth programming, camping and teaching adults.

"I believe that learning as a family is both the most fun and effective way of learning, and it is also the most natural," said Medwin.

As an alternative to the traditional religious school, Mischpacha Family program engages the whole family in Jewish learning. Adults meet twice a month with Rabbi Paul Kipnes on the same subject matter their children are learning in multigrade groupings. Later, parents and children engage in educational activities.
