Students attend D.C. conference

Allison Hirshfield of Calabasas and Kian Torabian of Westlake Village represented the state of Californiaat the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership 2007 World Leadership Congress July 19 to 27 in Washington, D.C.

"HOBY's primary purpose is to give high school sophomores the opportunity to discover their leadership potential to become the leaders of tomorrow," said Hugh O'Brian, congress founder. "We give them a hands-on opportunity to interact with today's top movers and shakers in business, government, education, technology and other professions."

Topics during the congress included international business and entrepreneurship, international governance, law and justice, technology, media and college preparation.

The 425 students also spent a day in community service with six hands-on service projects in the area. The U.S. ambassadors were joined by their peers from more than 19 countries.
