Oak Park resident will play lacrosse at the University of Oregon

      Carlyn Costello can't wait to attend the University of Oregon in the fall of 2008. After making a trip to visit the home of the Ducks last month, Costello quickly fell in love with the campus and the personalities of the people that lived there.

Medals of honor
     GOOD AS GOLD- A group of local girls from Victory Gymnastics took home gold, silver and bronze medals at the California State Games in San Diego. The team won a gold medal in the all-around. Jessica Lieberman, an Agoura Hills resident, won individual silver in the all-around. Lieberman also won gold in the floor exercise and balance beam events. Teammates pictured include Sydney Allende, Dani Jacoby, Jenna Ciccarelli, Erin Takata and Lieberman.

Westlake High grad Billy Miller prepares for life after the NFL

      For eight years Billy Miller has been catching passes for NFL teams. Now the New Orleans Saints tight end is hoping to pass back some of his football knowledge to a younger generation. Two weeks ago, the 1995 Westlake High graduate opened up his first business, Elite Athletics, in Westlake Village.

Skateboarders to compete at X Games
Event is Friday night at Home Depot Center in Carson

      A group of local skateboarders will attempt to go big in front of a raucous Home Depot Center crowd at the X Games Friday night. Of the 10 Southern California high school skaters who will be competing in an invitational best trick competition beginning at 8 p.m.
