Calabasas teacher attends seminar at Columbia

Paul Markowitz, an independent study teacher at A.E. Wright Middle School in Calabasas, recently traveled to Columbia University for a one-week competitive application seminar on "America Between the Wars."

Thirty-one teachers attended the program to examine the years between the first and second world wars.

The seminar was led by Alan Brinkley, the Allan Nevins professor of history and provost of Columbia University, and Michael Flamm, associate professor of history at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Gilder Lehman Institute of American History sponsored the event.
