Football fundraiser gets a big lift


IRIS SMOOT/Acorn Newspapers STRONG MAN- David Henningsen, 17, a linebacker and running back for the Oak Park High School varsity football team, heaves a large dumbbell at the school's Lift-a-thon Fundraiser last week. Henningsen proved to be one of the top lifters in the contest. Oak Park football players were asked to  raise $250 in  donations  from  friends and family  in exchange for  the  player's pledge to participate, to lift a certain amount of weight, or to perform a certain number of reps. The money raised will help pay for next season's football equipment, including special doctorrecommended mouth guards, and new lights for the stadium scoreboard.
