Local student makes 'Noise!' at music camp

Students learn from pros

Michael Womack, a junior at Agoura Hills High School, was chosen as one of 32 teens nationwide to attend the Muzak Heart & Soul Foundation's annual summer camp, Noise!, in July at Cal State Northridge. He received a full camp scholarship.

The camp, a two-week long program created for young, aspiring music professionals, gives students the opportunity to learn about the music industry from professionals in the field.

At the camp, students worked and visited with record label producers, artist managers, music critics, audio architects, choreographers and other music industry professionals. They saw the working environments of highprofile music industry representatives. Campers also researched a specific music career and presented a career plan at the program's culmination.

Womack plays the piano, saxophone, percussion and guitar. He has acted as the lead singer, guitarist, manager and songwriter for his band, Spencer.

He is interested in a career as a record producer, music club operator, songwriter, tour manager and record store owner.

Students who applied for the camp submit several essays, two letters of recommendation and official school transcripts or a recent report card.
