Surf's up at Chumash Park

Jan & Dean's hits from the 1960s include "Little Old Lady From Pasadena," "Surf City," "Dead Man's Curve," and "Barbara Ann."

Quintet to perform
      The Danny Janklow Quintet will perform at the Jazz Bakery in Culver City on Thurs., Aug. 2. Janklow is a recent graduate of Agoura High School and made history by being the first and only student in the 12-year history of the competition to win soloist awards for performances on clarinet, tenor and flute.

Campers get nostalgic for '50s musical
     BYE BYE- Evan Lewis, 15, and Sammy Lassoff, 12, prepare for their roles in the Stages Performing Arts production of "Bye Bye Birdie" last week. The duo played Albert and his doting mama, Mae Peterson, in the 1950s musical comedy. The show was the culmination of Camp Stages, a summer program for children ages seven to 15 years.       TheMalibu Celebration of Film is back for a second year and will showcase award-winning festival films from Sept. 26 through 30. Texas Hold 'Em poker night scheduled as fundraiser
      The Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks and Do-it Center will host the inaugural "Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament" on Sun., Nov. 11 at Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks. The goal is to make this an annual event to raise money in support of Kiwanis programs that benefit children and the needy.
