I was sitting in the car reading The Acorn, and I was so sad to see the article about the boy named James Street who died due to a skateboarding accident (July 12, pg. 44A). More ... I was young and naive, not wise to his scam When I fell in love with the Marlboro Man He told me that I had nothing to fear As he whispered sweet nothings into my ear He said we had many love songs to be sung So don't worry about loosing More ... As a resident of the Mulwood area and frequent user of both the Headwaters intersection (Old Topanga and Mulholland) and Mulholland Highway, I agree with Mr. Keeler about the need for a traffic light at this intersection. I must use this intersection two to three times a day and often there are no more than two or three cars in this intersection. More ... The questionable Calabasas City Council decision to proceed with the installation of a traffic signal at the junction of Mulholland Highway and Old Topanga Road seems to be based on incomplete analysis and dangerous assumptions regarding traffic safety in that particular location. More ... I don't know where to begin with the cartoon of Michael Moore by "Wild" Bill printed in the July 18 Acorn . It offends on so many levels. Moore is fat, and thus presumably unhealthy. Why is that funny? Fat people are often in need of healthcare, and I have heard that quite a number of Americans are obese besides Mr. Moore. More ... I was aghast and dismayed by the subject of Michael Moore appearing in the editorial cartoon of the July 19 Acorn . More ... "Michael Moore, you're fat!" Wow, Acorn , you really showed him, didn't you? I've concluded that I probably wouldn't be so struck by your frequent forays into the land of national political lampooning- always with a Democrat target- if these editorial cartoons would only even occasionally be presented with at least a little bit of wit. More ... It was with great love and support I felt as I read your story regarding Adam Bushore (July 12). We, too, are parents of a son who, like Adam, was accepted into officer candidate school with the United States Air Force and has pushed beyond intelligent, physical and mental limits to become the "best" that he can be. More ... This is in response to Lorena Billig's letter (July 12) complaining about the motorist she classified as "rude." I am assuming that her neighborhood is on a public street in a residential zone. If that is the case, then the posted speed limit is 25 miles per hour. More ... This is regarding Patricia Ahmad's letter (July 19). It's all in how you view things, because I feel the media is biased, but on the liberal side. Both the Republican and Democratic parties will do whatever it takes to get the American vote. I was Democratic, but changed to Republican after 9/11. More ... Regarding the July 19 editorial, "Democracy demands participation," this is true, but incomplete. Democracy is the "divide and conquer" strategy of America's elite. I have never quite understood why so many newspaper editors extol democracy rather than the concept of republicanism. More ... Letters RSS feed |
