Triunfo board moves toward full elections
      Triunfo Sanitation District Board of Directors took a major step this week toward becoming an all-elected body. Previous motions by Triunfo board members Linda Parks and Janna Orkney to have all five members of the panel be elected were defeated by the three other board members, Ron Stark, Tom Glancy and Jim Acosta.

Gaines runs for school board, Schulz out
      Two seats are opening up at the Las Virgenes Unified School District Board of Education, but only one incumbent has filed papers for reelection. Board President Terilyn Finders is seeking her third term on the education panel, while Pat Schulz is stepping down after eight years in office.

     LONG HORNS- While a worker tries to give directions, Fred A-Steer, a genuine Texas longhorn, appears to have none of it as he kicks up his heels inside the corral at the Leonis Adobe in Calabasas. Boudreau wins action with Coastal Commission
      Landowner Brian Boudreau has won a lengthy battle with the California Coastal Commission to rebuild his Malibu Valley Farms. A fire a decade ago burned much of the equestrian facility. The Coastal Commission voted 75 to award Boudreau afterthefact permits for structures already rebuilt on his farm, as well as permits for further development.

Agoura Hills incumbents run for council
      Residents who want to serve on the Agoura Hills City Council can vie for one of two seats open in the November election. Application papers are available at city hall. Councilmembers Dan Kuperberg and John Edelston are at the end of their four-year terms. Both have pulled filing papers with the intent to run for reelection.

Rotary seeks participants
      Rotary clubs in the Conejo Valley area are seeking young professionals ages 25 to 40 to participate in a group study exchange program in India. Those selected will leave Jan. 1, 2008, and return Jan. 24. The Rotary Foundation, which sponsors the program, will pay for a round-trip ticket. Rotarians in India will provide meals, lodging and group travel.

Sculptor's work takes on life-size proportions
Animal designs look like the real thing
      Sculptor Joe Wertheimer has moved to Agoura Hills and brought his line of lifesize animals with him. Wertheimer has been a sculptor for more than 30 years, designing and creating artwork for hotels and restaurants around the world. He sculpted 18 African animals, at life-size or larger, for The Palace Hotel and Lost City in South Africa.

Pretty princesses pause for a royal visit
     IRIS SMOOT/Acorn Newspapers BELLE'S BUDDIES- Dressed as Disney character Belle, Garianna Geiselman, 10, chats about dresses and jewelry with sisters Jessie Nial, 4, and Brittney Nial, 4, during "Broadway Night" on Friday night as part of the city of Westlake Village's fourth season of TGIF events at the Westlake Village Civic Center. All three girls are from Westlake Village. At the event the Cabrillo Music Theatre presented scenes from the upcoming musical, "Disney's Beauty and the Beast." Children were encouraged to come in costume and enjoy a tea party with Belle during one scene.

In addition to writing mystery novels such as "Fury," Enemy Within" and his most recent book, "Malice," Tanenbaum is a trial lawyer and has been the homicide bureau chief for the New York district attorney's office.
