Our community has been rocked recently by a fatal pedestrian accident and several bicycle accidents, as seen by the stream of letters to The Acorn . Yet one big issue, one that affects cyclists and pedestrians alike, has been overlooked. More ... I was very grateful to see the exposure The Acorn gave to recent letters received from the community about bicyclists and pedestrians versus automobiles. As an avid road cyclist, and having recently moved back to the area from Georgia, in my experience drivers here are generally more civil and respectful towards cyclists. More ... Most of the recently submitted letters have implied that motorists bear the most blame when it comes to accidents or near misses with pedestrians and bicy clists. I do agree that drivers need to be very attentive and respectful of pedestrians and bicyclists. More ... I find myself amused at the various letters that have appeared in The Acorn regarding various HOA "problems" and then further amused at the Calabasas effort to be recognized as one of America's finest cities. More ... Words cannot express the appreciation that Brookside Elementary School and PTA have for the contributions that Vons/ Pavilions/Safeway have made to our school through the eScrip fundraising program. More ... I find the city of Agoura Hills' agreeing to fund an additional sheriff's vehicle somewhat puzzling and a touch humorous. I mean, I certainly can understand the move if this was a high or even moderate crime area filled with chases and felonies and gangs, oh my. More ... Why are local residents of Agoura, Westlake Village and Calabasas paying more for gas than residents of all surrounding communities? On June 18 we checked gasoline prices in the aforementioned cities and found them to be 25 to 30 cents per gallon higher than those found in Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, West Hills, Woodland Hills and Canoga Park. More ... I wanted to write you and tell you how proud I was of my son on his graduating day at Agoura High School on Fri., June 15. The only thing that ruined one of the biggest days in my life was the way the seating was handled. More ... Enough is enough. It's time to take back our country and our democracy.
