Discovery Nature camp offers summer fun

There are still slots available at the Mountains Restoration Trust Discovery Nature Camp. Session 1, which covers Paleontology, Insects and Astronomy, meets from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mon. through Thurs., June 25 to 28 at 3815 Old Topanga Canyon Road, Calabasas.

Designed for children 8 to 12 years old, the camp provides an introduction to the wonders of nature. The June session exposes children to science and their natural environment through nature crafts, labs using scientific tools, guided discoveries, hikes, games and interactive guest speakers.

"Nature Discovery Camp is designed to connect children to the healthy outdoors," said Director Susan Haugland, an environmental instructor. "Children have hours of fun while learning to appreciate nature and developing a sense of stewardship for the environment."

Camp Session 2, Stream Ecology, Geology, Birds and Field Trip, runs from July 23 to 26. Session 3, Reptiles and Amphibians, Mammals and Ecology, runs from Aug. 20 to 23.
