      On the second play of the Ventura County High School AllStar Football Game at Moorpark High on Saturday night, West running back Raynard Pamilton from Pacifica High ran a reverse for a 27-yard touchdown to put his team on the scoreboard first.

      Friendships were renewed between coaches and among players and new ones were formed before Sunday's annual Jim Parker EastWest Baseball All-Star Game, played for the first time at George "Sparky" Anderson Field at Ullman Stadium on the Cal Lutheran University campus.

Two teams win tournament titles
     DOUBLE THE FUN- In a rare double win, teams from Agoura and Westlake took first place in both the girls' U-10 and U-12 divisions at the Patriots Cup in Newbury Park. Both teams qualified for the final round by winning three games, and both teams had difficult championship matches that ended in 2-1 victories. Cal Lutheran offers numerous summer camps for kids
      A variety of youth athletic camps will be held at California Lutheran University during the summer. The camps include instruction in basketball, baseball, tennis, soccer, football, water polo, dance and cheerleading.

Skateboard season exceeds expectations
     IRIS SMOOT/Acorn Newspapers A PAIR OF POSES- Josh Nichols, 15, of Simi Valley High flies off a ramp and over a barricade during a California High School Skateboard Club competition at Skatelab in Simi Valley. In the background, Bryce Mandel of Oak Park High gets in a little face time with the camera. The club's inaugural season concluded on Saturday with Santa Monica High taking home the first-place championship. Agoura finished second overall, with Royal and Simi Valley in third and fourth, respectively. Westlake was fifth, Oak Park sixth and Newbury Park finished in seventh. Created by Thousand Oaks resident Jeff Stern, the CHSSC was a huge success in its first season. The league received national coverage from The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and National Public Radio. According to www.lat34.com, Stern plans to change the league's name to National High School Skateboard Association (NHSSA) so it can expand beyond California in 2008.

Benkert, Maddox honored by V.C. Sports Hall of Fame
      Westlake High head football coach Jim Benkert was one of five inductees into the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame during an awards dinner Sunday night at the Ventura Beach Marriott. "As a coach you get a lot of credit because of the kids' and assistants' hard work," he later said. "I wish they could have all been on the podium with me.
