      Cassandra France, 2004 graduate of Agoura High School, will graduate with honors this June from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. She will receive a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a minor in theater.

Schools get a little help from their friends
      Friends of Oak Park Schools will present a check for $100,000 to the Oak Park Unified School District at its June 12 school board meeting. Friends of Oak Park Schools has designated the funds to be spent on a handson science specialist/coach to help add more experiential learning in the science departments.

      Dave Jackson is leaving his principal's post at Calabasas High School- but not because of health issues or because he's accepted a job in another school district. Jackson said the rumor about his health spread after he had minor surgery for a hernia; others thought he might have taken another job outside of Las Virgenes.

      For the first time, an Oak Park teacher has been chosen Ventura County Teacher of the Year. Oak Park High School biology teacher Winnie Litten, 40, was honored on Tue., June 5 by a team of Oak Park and county educators and administrators, including Charles Weis, county superintendent of schools.

Summer sports camp staffed by professionals
      Lindero Kids Summer Sports Camp will begin June 18 with camp hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at 5719 Lake Lindero Drive, Agoura Hills. This is the 15th year the camp has offered programs for children ages 4 to 14.

      Lindero Canyon Middle School will hold its culmination at 5 p.m. Thurs., June 14 on the upper level of the campus at 5844 N. Larboard Lane, Agoura Hills. The ceremony will include student speeches, department awards, a vocal interpretation of the theme "Remember When" and the distribution of diplomas.
