Viewpoint returns to finals

      Although Viewpoint School's campus is located off Mulholland Highway, the boys' tennis team has found a second home- the CIFSouthern Section championships. By defeating Santa Ynez, 135, on the road Tuesday, the Patriots will head to the Claremont Club on May 30 for a chance to win their fourth straight CIF-SS title. Patriot baseball squad wins
      Viewpoint School's baseball team has advanced to the CIFSouthern Section Division VII quarterfinals. The Patriots (20-4) defeated New Community Jewish 19-5 on Tuesday afternoon. Viewpoint will play Packinghouse Christian Academy Friday at 6 p.m. at Birmingham High.

      Agoura High's Chapman Chan and Michael Coleman have qualified for the CIF-Southern Section Tennis Sectionals at Seal Beach Tennis Center. The round of 16 will be played Friday morning, with the quarterfinals to follow.

Primm blows by the field

      The CIFSouthern Section Divisional Finals took place last weekend in Norwalk and many athletes from the area posted top times. Senior Cory Primm of Westlake High defended his Division II title in the 800 when he ran a time of 1:50.90, a state record that had stood for 27 years. Primm also won in the 1,600, where he posted a mark of 4:14.42.

Lucky 13s for the Lions
      NEVER SAY DIE- Oaks Christian pitcher Tommy Grillo delivers a strike during the first round of the CIF-Southern Section Division IV baseball playoffs against Beverly Hills. The Lions won the game 13-2. On Tuesday, OCHS scored eight runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to stun top-ranked Sonora, 13-12.

      A week after beating Westlake in the Southern California Lacrosse Association title match, Oak Park took down WHS once again in the California Division II State Lacrosse Championship Sunday afternoon at Newbury Park High.

      Omitted from last week's article on the Oaks Christian boys' swim team were Chase Block and Jonnie Paré. Competing at the CIFSouthern Section Division III Swimming Championships in Long Beach, Block, a freshman, won the 500 freestyle event and Paré was victorious in the 100 freestyle.
