Bay Laurel celebrates teachers

Parents at Bay Laurel Elementary School celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week last week with a New York City theme.

The week's observance began Monday with a breakfast served to all the teachers. On Tuesday, students brought flowers to their instructors, and dessert was served in the faculty break rooms.

On Wednesday, the teachers were treated to the children singing a chorus from their "Salute to Broadway" program.

The treats continued with Spa Day on Thursday. Teachers and staff members received a 20-minute massage. Fruit was available in the break rooms.

The week ended on Friday with a luncheon catered by Mulberry Street Pizzeria in Encino.

In addition to the daily events, the parents printed up a mock New York City newspaper filled with articles, quotes, cartoons and pictures in tribute to the teachers of Bay Laurel.
