Job fair targets veterans in search of work

A "Hire a Hero, Hire a Vet" job fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thurs., May 17 at the West Oxnard Job and Career Center, 635 S. Ventura Road, Oxnard. All job seekers are welcome to participate.

More than 40 local companies will offer opportunities for veteran job seekers to meet potential employers and explore industrial and professional careers. The fair is sponsored by the county of Ventura Human Services Agency and the state Employment Development Department.

Participating companies include Teledyne Scientific and Imaging, Vitel Communications, Nordex Advanced Technologies and Pride Industries.

There will also be other companies from various industries in attendance.

The Ventura County Human Services Agency and the state Employment Development Department connect job seekers with employers, provide education and training, and share community resource information.
