The cross carving
     JANN HENDRY/Acorn Newspapers MICHELANGELO'S MARBLE- A new sculpture called "The Cross" is installed on the lawn at Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village. By world-renown artist and sculptor Alexander, 80, the piece was hewn from the last large block of white marble from the quarry that produced the marble Michelangelo used.

Films about cantors to debut
      Some of the cantors considered among the greatest will make their onscreen West Coast debuts at 3 p.m. Sun., April 22 at Temple Beth Haverim in Agoura Hills. "Great Cantors of the Golden Age" and "Great Cantors in Cinema" showcase some of the rarest and finest performances of traditional Eastern European cantorial art from 1927 to 1956.

Former Palestinian terrorist to speak
      Taysir (Tass) Abu Saada, founder of Hope for Ishmael, a ministry in the Gaza Strip, will speak at 11 a.m. Sat., April 21 at Beth Emunah Messianic Synagogue, 5312 Derry Ave., Ste. N, Agoura Hills. Saada is a former Palestinian fatah fighter and sniper trained to attack and kill Israelis under Yassir Arafat and the Palestinian Liberation Organization.

Church to screen 'Happy Feet'
      Christian Church of the Hills will present Movie Night with the Academy Awardwinning animated film "Happy Feet" from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sat., April 28 at the church, 29295 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills. The event is open to the public and will include games, a candy counter, popcorn and beverages from 5:30 to 6 p.m., with a pizza and salad dinner at 6 p.m. The movie will begin at 7 p.

St. Jude hosts open house
      St. Jude Catholic Church in Westlake Village will host an open house from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sun., April 22 at 32032 W. Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village. Open house visitors will receive a guidebook and tour stations set up in the church at their own pace. There will be seven stations, each offering detailed information about the objects and artwork within the church.
