School board member shows off flea market finds
     STEPHANIE BERTHOLDO/Acorn Newspapers SECOND-HAND CHIC- Las Virgenes Unified School District school board member Dave Moorman shows off his bargain outfit at the March 26 board meeting. To support Agoura High's grad night, Moorman attended the school's flea market and purchased an entire outfit for less than $20 including Lucky Brand dungarees, an Italian silk tie, a dress shirt, suede jacket and perfectly polished shoes.

      The Slice of Paradise dinnerdance, silent and live auctions hosted by Sumac Elementary School's Parent Faculty Association will be April 28 at the Malibou Lake Mountain Club, 20933 Lake Vista Drive, Agoura Hills. Event organizers will offer for auction a custom-built motorcycle.

Summer internships available for art majors
      Paid arts internships will be available for college undergraduates in Los Angeles County this summer. The board of supervisors funds the program annually through the County Arts Commission, which this year awarded grants totaling $530,000 to 90 performing, literary, media and municipal arts organizations throughout Los Angeles County.

White Oak parents still upset over split second and third grade class
      The school year may be twothirds over, but the split second/ thirdgrade class at White Oak Elementary School continues to vex parents. In September, school officials formed the blended class to avoid paying penalties for violating the 201 studentteacher ratio mandated by the California Department of Education. The state rule applies to kindergarten through third-grade classes.

Summer music camp coming to Conejo Valley
      The Conejo Recreation and Park District will present the 19th annual Conejo Valley Summer Music Camp for children ages 11 to 15 in the band and chorus rooms of Thousand Oaks High School, 2323 Moorpark Road. Two sessions are available and campers may choose either or both sessions. Session I is 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 2 through 13 with no camp on July 4.

Scardino donates $100,000 to local Boys & Girls Clubs
      A donation of $100,000 by Boys & Girls Clubs supporter John Scardino has given the Conejo and Las Virgenes groups the means to begin recruitment of a new resource development director. The director will be charged with raising up to $10 million to help the clubs build four new facilities to provide before and after-school care for local children.

Art students honored
     STORY PLATE- Taylor Hirmon, a Lindero Canyon Middle School seventh-grader, displays her ceramic art plate which grabbed first place and a $100 savings bond from Bank of America. Art teacher Marilyn Fine is with her. The plate's ornaments included a movie ticket, Beatles CD, sunglasses and Orbit gum. Twelve projects from Fine's class are chosen each quarter to be showcased at Bank of America on Kanan Road in Agoura Hills. Other winning students included Kevin Hasemi and Lauren Scharphorn. Agoura athletes seek help with practice facility
      The recent renovation of the athletic fields at Agoura High School has left some members of the track and field team without a place to practice. Starting today, the 14 shot-putters and discuss throwers can no longer train at the high school, Charger coach John Amneus said.
