High schools set to battle for skateboarding supremacy

      Skateboarding is not a crime. Of course, it's never been much of a team sport, either. One local man, however, is trying to change the way skateboarding is perceived at the high school level. Jeff Stern, a 38-year-old father of three who grew up in Westlake Village and now resides in Thousand Oaks, has started the California High School Skateboard Club.

CHS boys' tennis team doesn't rebuild, it reloads
Coyotes aiming for fifth consecutive league title

      According to head coach Kim Kinberg and assistant coach Cleo Harper, the 2007 season is a transitional one for the Calabasas boys' tennis team. Still, the Coyotes don't seem to know how to lose. Since joining the Marmonte League five years ago, Calabasas has won the league title every season.

Lion boys' volleyball team ranked No. 1 in Division IV

      A year after winning the CIFSouthern Section Division IV championship, the Oaks Christian boys' volleyball team has shown no signs of a letdown. Although last year's top players Alex Walker and Brendan Skinner are gone after graduating, the Lions began the season ranked No. 1 in their division.

Sportswriters Thomas Gase and Stephen Dorman debate which team will win the pennant
      I am scared to death of the next Friday the 13th, which happens to be coming this April. You see, my co-worker is Steve Dorman, and on April 13 his beloved San Diego Padres will officially be out of the National League West race when they play the Los Angeles Dodgers for the first time. From then on out, Dorman will probably be angrier than the Incredible Hulk on steroids.
