Youth basketball and soccer teams celebrate job well done
     GEMS- The Black Pearls, a team in the AYBA seventh-grade high school division, went undefeated this year with a record of 13-0, landing the league championship as well as the tournament championship. Tarheels take top prize
      BIG BLUE- The Tarheels are the Agoura Youth Basketball association fifth-grade champions. The Tarheels defeated the Clippers 54-37 at A.C. Stelle Middle School to secure the title.       By beating Mexico in a bestof-three game series last week, the United States Field Hockey team has earned a chance to compete in the 2007 Pan American Games this July in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The tournament is a qualifier for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.

Boys' volleyball squad out to defend Marmonte League title

      It's a new season, but the results haven't changed for the Westlake High boys' volleyball team. Marmonte League champions in 2006, the Warriors are off to a fast start once again. Before last night's matchup vs. Agoura, WHS had a record of 8-1 overall and was 3-0 in league play.

Local ice hockey team wins in the desert
     KINGS OF THE RINK- The Ventura County Mariners Squirt 'A' Division ice hockey team won the President's Day Invitational in Chandler, Ariz. The tournament was conducted by the Southern California Amateur Hockey Association. The Squirt finished 5-0 in the tournament and allowed only five goals total. OCHS, Viewpoint netters ranked No. 1 in CIF
      In the latest CIF-Southern Section coaches' poll released Monday, both the Oaks Christian and Viewpoint boys' volleyball teams were ranked No. 1 in their respective divisions. Oaks Christian reigns supreme in Division IV, while Viewpoint was the top team in Division V. Both schools won CIF-SS championships a year ago.

Future Track Running Club offering college scholarship
      The Future Track Running Club in Agoura Hills is seeking applications for its 2007 scholarship. A $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior attending one of the following schools: Agoura, Calabasas, Grace Brethren, La Reina, Liberty Christian, Moorpark, Newbury Park, Oak Park, Oaks Christian, Royal, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Viewpoint and Westlake.
