Agoura Burglars stole a $175 DVD player and several DVDs from a vehicle parked on East Vale Court March 11. A $300 car window was shattered. Someone broke into three cars parked on Old Carriage Court on March 9, stealing two laptop computers and a cellphone. The total loss amounted to $5,100.

Deputies say car break-ins on the rise
      Agoura Hills and Calabasas were hit with a rash of car breakins last week, the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station reported. Burglars hve been stealing purses, laptops, iPods and anything of value that was left inside the vehicles, said Dep. Wayne Encinas, a Lost Hills spokesperson.

Injured motorcycle cop recovers

      A Lost Hills sheriff's deputy injured while riding a motorcycle March 2 in Calabasas was released from UCLA Medical Center last Friday. Mike Ranes, 40, collided with an SUV driven by Cynthia O'Leary of West Hills when her vehicle pulled in front of him as she left the driveway between Calabasas City Hall and Digital Insight, the private business next door.
