Chapman's challenge
An ear infection took Will Chapman's hearing when he was a year old, but Calabasas' senior center fielder never let the disability limit his play on the baseball diamond

      Will Chapman has played on the Calabasas High varsity baseball team for four years, but his favorite memory as a Coyote didn't come until two weeks ago. On March 5, Calabasas upset nationally ranked Chatsworth High 12-8, and Chapman was a big part of the win, going 2-for-3 with a double while also getting hit by a pitch.

Young talent gives WHS softball team a boost
Warriors' goal is to win league

      A small group of underclassmen and four veteran juniors have helped revitalize the Westlake High girls' softball team. Fifth-place finishers in the Marmonte League a year ago, the Warriors (3-3) head into next Tuesday's league opener at Thousand Oaks sporting a roster that features three starting freshmen and only one senior.

Red Rockets power their way to first place
     ROCKET FUELED- The AYSO girls' U-10 Agoura-Westlake Red Rockets won all four of its games and took the top spot in the Thousand Oaks Pot O' Gold Tournament. The team's strong defense, anchored by Rachel Mach, Dani Reda and goalkeeper Madison Gebbia, gave up only one goal in four matches. The Rockets' balanced attack was demonstrated by having eight different players score a total of 15 goals in the tournament. Track and field athletes compete at Royal Twilight Invitational

      For the past six months Royal High's girls' track coach Heather Ream has had to endure the task of making sure everything ran well at the Royal Twilight Invitational. Last Saturday at Royal, 19 schools did just that- they ran well. The track and field season officially kicked off last weekend at the Invitational, where more than 2,000 kids competed.

OPHS golf team playing through without its No. 1

      After losing one of its best players, Oak Park High boys' golf team will look to move on and make a run at the TriValley League title. The Eagles' golf program has been very successful in the last 11 years, winning league titles in 1996, 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2005. This year, the road to a title will be a little harder after junior Alex Kang decided to part ways with the team.

Oak Park lacrosse star to attend Yale
      Chad Costello, a senior on the Oak Park High lacrosse team, has signed with Yale and will play for the Ivy League university next season. Costello said he was honored to be the first lacrosse player from the Conejo Valley to sign with an Ivy League program.
