Young gymnasts win at invitational
      Monarchs National Gymnastics Training Center was represented at the 2007 All Olympia Invitational Feb. 10 and 11 with a six-member Level 7 girl's optional gymnastics team. The meet was held in the John Wooden Center at UCLA in Los Angeles.

CVU takes 'Pride' to win
      WINNERS- The CVU Pride Girls U-11 club soccer team tied for first to win the League in the Alpha Bronze Division. They also placed second in the Irvine Winter Classic Soccer tournament last month and advanced to the second round in the state cup.

Chargers win epic CIF-SS girls' water polo title match
      It's a patch, not a pin, and that's just perfect for the Agoura High girls' water polo squad. When a team loses a CIFSouthern Section title match, as the Chargers had done the previous two seasons, they are given runnerup pins for their achievement.

Patriots punch title game ticket
      Saturday is a big day for the Viewpoint School boys' soccer team. The Patriots will play topseeded Animo High for the CIFSouthern Section Division VI championship. Saturday's game will take place at Downey High at noon. Viewpoint, seeded third in the division, advanced to the title game by defeating Yucca Valley 2-0 at home in double overtime Tuesday afternoon.

Lady Lions to play for soccer championship
      This past week Martin Scorsese finally won an Oscar for his film "The Departed," a movie about two undercover cops. It's a flick the Oaks Christian girls' soccer team's playoff opponents can probably relate to. Like the characters in the awardwinning movie, the Lions' foes have been disappearing left and right.

Chevalier coaches his final game for OPHS
      Before Oak Park High boys' basketball coach Ed Chevalier could end his coaching career, his team had to deal with a holiday it would have rather avoided. The Eagles' season, one that saw the team win the Tri-Valley League and finish with a 23-7 record, finally ended Tuesday night when they ran into Campbell Hall senior Justin Holiday and his younger brother, Jrue.

Hungry Dogs back up the bark
      WHO LET THE DOGS OUT?- The Hungry Dogs AYSO U-10 boys' soccer team went undefeated and finished in first place at the Riverside Locomotion Tournament on President's Day weekend. The Dogs' division consisted of 15 teams from all over Southern California, and they went on to beat the top-seeded team from Moreno Valley 3-0 in the title game.

Polo team finishes third in Florida
      NICE SHOWING- The Ventura Premier Water Polo Club traveled to Coral Springs, Fla., to participate in the fifth annual South Florida International Tournament. Twentyfour teams from across the world competed in the threeday event. Ventura Premier lost to the Israeli 19-and-under national team 6-3 in the quarterfinals, but rebounded to defeat Santa Barbara 12-7 to claim third place.
