Citizen lifesavers honored

Ventura County citizens were honored with Lifesaving Awards by the Ventura County Fire Department at its 11th annual Awards Luncheon yesterday in Camarillo.

Honorees included a 7year-old boy whose call to 911 helped save his mother, a neighbor who rushed into a burning house to rescue a baby, and two brothers who pulled a pilot from a plane wreckage.

The annual ceremony recognizes heroic, meritorious or outstanding actions by members of the community, organizations, fire department personnel and other public safety agency members. Firefighters of the year from Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley and Ojai were also recognized.
