Scouts host Monopoly contest

Boy Scout Troops 718 and 799 of Thousand Oaks will host the first Monopoly Tournament in Ventura County on Sat., March 3 at St. Paschal Baylon Church, 155 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

The tournament will feature two 90-minute rounds. The top six scoring players will move on to the final championship round. A cash prize will be awarded to the winner.

U.S. National Monopoly champion Matt McNally will serve as the head judge. Players will be briefed prior to the commencement of the tournament.

This local tournament is the first step toward the National and World Monopoly Game Championships.

All players are invited to enter. Advance registration is requested, but tickets may also be purchased at the door on the day of the event. Preregistered players will receive a free T-shirt.

A raffle and a silent auction will take place during the tournament. Refreshments will be available for purchase on site.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Ventura County Boy Scout Council's Endowment Fund and will establish a scholarship fund for disadvantaged Scouts in Ventura County.
