Business offers child car seat inspections

Babies "R" Us will offer free inspections of child safety seats from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wed., Feb. 14 at 23741 Calabasas Road, Calabasas. Participants should bring both the car seat and the child who rides in it.

No appointment is necessary. Car seats will be checked on a first come, first served basis. Trained CHP officers will be on hand to inspect the seats for safety and make sure that they are properly installed.

State law requires any child under age 6 or less than 60 pounds to be secured in a child passenger restraint in the back seat, except under certain specified circumstances.

The inspection is sponsored by Assemblymember Julia Brownley (D-Woodland H i l l s ) and the California Highway Patrol.
