LVUSD considering installing FieldTurf at Agoura, Calabasas high schools
Track and field season could be interrupted

      The Las Virgenes Unified School District is discussing installing FieldTurf, a synthetic playing surface, onto the football fields at Agoura and Calabasas high schools. According to Deputy Superintendent Don Zimring, no deal has been finalized. LVSUD is in the process of doing site surveys and getting a bid from a contractor, Zimring said.

Local soccer star caps college career
      Damon Brooks, an alumnus of Hillcrest Christian School in Thousand Oaks and longtime Agoura Hills resident, recently finished his final season with the Azusa Pacific University Cougars at the 48th Annual NAIA Men's Soccer Championship Tournament. APU was in the national finals for the third year in a row and made the championship game for the second consecutive season.

Agoura Thunder rolls into the semifinals
      THUNDER STRUCK- The Agoura Thunder placed third in the recent AYSO Section 10 allstar playoffs. In the elimination round, the Thunder defeated T.O. B and top-seeded Newbury Park A in exciting shootouts, but lost to T.O. A in the semifinals. Section 10 is made up of six regions- Thousand Oaks 9, Newbury Park 41, Moorpark 363, Agoura-Westlake-Oak Park 4, Simi Valley 121 and Malibu 759.

      MOVING ON- After knocking off all the other regional teams, the Agoura/Westlake AYSO All-Stars will head to Bakersfield in March to compete for the Sectional title.       TOMORROW'S STARS- Two teams from Agoura Youth Basketball Association's thirdgrade boys' division head off during halftime at the Pepperdine vs. San Francisco State game recently on the Pepperdine University campus in Malibu. Both the Wizards and the Clippers showed skills and promise, but the Wizards ultimately prevailed 4-0.
