Oak Park High to host Battle of the Bands
More groups are needed for competition

      Bands are needed for the Oak Park High School choir's annual Battle of the Bands, to be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Fri., March 2. Pitch, tightness, balance, lead vocals, background vocals/harmony, musicianship, originality and stage presence are among the skills judges will consider.

Teacher of the Month
      STRAIGHT SHOOTER--Alan Meyer, a middle- and upper-school math teacher at Viewpoint School in Calabasas, was named Teacher of the Month by the L.A. Kolbe Korner Preschool to hold annual fundraiser this month
      The St. Maximilian Kolbe Korner Preschool annual fundraiser "Casino Royale" will be from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Sat., Feb. 24 in the church hall at 5801 Kanan Road, Westlake Village. Cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and a silent auction will be followed by dinner at 7:30 along with a live auction, gaming tables, a poker tournament and raffle.
