In-line hockey team comes up big at national championships
      Team Warrior 97's captured the in-line hockey 2007 Winter Nationals Championship for the U-10 Mite Gold Division at the highly regarded NARCH Winter Nationals Tournament, which took place Jan. 11-15 in Phoenix, Ariz. Team Warrior went undefeated in roundrobin play, displaying a high-powered offense while winning its first three games by outscoring the opposition 28-4.

Two Agoura High water polo players honored
      The Southern California high school water polo awards banquet was held on Sun., Jan. 14, at the Knott's Berry Farm Resort Hotel in Buena Park. Several local players, in addition to being named to the All-CIF Division IV first team, were selected to the AllSouthern California team and to the CaliforniaHawaii AllAmerican squad.

OCHS boys' soccer team has gone through an up-and-down season

      Perhaps the expectations were a little too high. Then again, maybe they weren't. Despite fielding a roster that featured more freshmen (six) than seniors (four), the Oaks Christian boys' soccer team was ranked in the top 10 of the CIF-Southern Section Division V coaches' poll to begin the season.

      It seems as if Peyton Manning wasn't the only one to step out of the runner-up shadow this past weekend. Rebecca Polich, a senior wrestler in the 122-pound weight class at Agoura High, one-upped her second-place finish from last year when she won the Southern California Regional Individual Championship last Saturday at Channel Islands High.

Agoura and Westlake fighting for No. 4 seed and a guaranteed postseason berth

      It might not be a date that jumps off the calendar, but Feb. 4, 2005, is an important landmark in the recent history of Marmonte League girls' basketball. On that day nearly two years ago, Newbury Park High went on the road and was defeated by Westlake 57-49. Since then, the Panthers have been perfect in league play, reeling off 25 consecutive victories.

Solid start for Real Cal soccer club
      OFF AND RUNNING- The Real California FC Girls '92 squad, formerly known as CVU Blue G92 , reached the finals of the Irvine Winter Classic while playing in its first tournament together. Real entered the championship match against the Manteca Fire with two shutout victories. The defense was led by goalkeeper Emily Ortiz, as well as Brittney Myers, Megan Moore, Caitlin Turner and Kasey Kavanagh.
